What is the difference between rake rebate and rake share?

The difference between rake share and rake rebate is basically how you get paid.Rake share is “sharing of the rake.” It is the rake dropped divided by the number of players seated. For example, if you are playing poker on a $2 / $4 table and $1 rake is dropped with 5 players seated, you get paid 20¢ for the hand ($1 5 players = 20¢) - whether you played or folded preflop.

Rake Rebate is playing rake free. It is getting paid the rake you contributed to the pot. So in the same situation in a $2 / $4 game, $1 rake is dropped but you are in the hand with only one other player, you receive 50¢ ($1 2 players = 50¢.) However, if you fold, you do not get paid for that hand. Since you are not in the hand, you have not contributed any rake and therefore are ineligible for a rake refind.
